Monica’s background is in the pharmaceutical industry including work
in hospital, compounding, retail and research and development. She graduated from York University in Toronto, Canada. Since moving to the United States almost twenty years ago she has been very involved in non profit work and her community. Monica’s love for science has inspired her to empower and mentor other young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math through the “Girls in STEM” project. She has also worked with the American Heart Association and its “Go Red for Women” campaign for many years. She is a tireless advocate for the Environment and works with many local advocacy groups. She has been the Commissioner and current President for the City of Calabasas Library for several years. The Parmar’s adore Calabasas and it’s strong sense of community and Monica is on the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce Board to support all local business owners. Her husband Sunny is also an active member of the community, known for volunteering his time coaching for almost a decade with the Calabasas recreational youth basketball program.
Coming from a family of educators she is especially passionate about Public education. Monica joined THE Foundation in 2015 after many years of very active involvement in the PFC’s, Site Councils and special District Committees at LVUSD. She joined the Executive Board as Vice President in 2021 and has been very proud of the accomplishments they have made as a team supporting the Superintendent, Administration and School District of LVUSD.
“As a proud mother of two very successful LVUSD graduates, Neyha and Navin it is my pleasure to continue to support the programs, initiatives and goals of our local LVUSD Public Schools; helping to raise much needed funds, supporting all of our students and chairing community building events. We are truly lucky to have such a beautiful community and school district.”
